U.S. soccer players Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan gives their predictions for Brazil:
What to expect from the U.S. team?
Wambach: I have high expectations for our men. They have talented guys that play all over the world and can win games if they play well. They need to be a complete team. A tough group for sure, but I still expect them to advance.
Morgan: I’ve seen them play some of their best soccer these last few months, so I have really high expectations for us this World Cup. Our depth is unbelievable and if we perform well in group play, this can be a big advantage that I don’t think we’ve had in the past.
Who will play in the final?
Wambach: It’s hard for me to predict the finalists. I’ll give you my semifinalists: USA, Germany, Brazil, Netherlands.
Morgan: I am looking at a Spain-Brazil final. Spain has always made a case for being the best in the world. I do truly believe that this could be Brazil’s time.
Which player is primed to have a great World Cup?
Wambach: I think (Brazil’s) Neymar will lift his team.
Morgan: Obviously you have to look at Neymar, who is expected to have a great summer. But I do think Netherlands will make a good run with help from Arjen Robben. A younger player that could prove his worth is Raheem Sterling. He’s proven he belongs this season at Liverpool and he will be a factor for England.
